Electric Car Sales Sizzle in November; Tesla Delivers Over 1,000 Model S Units

Sales of electric autos hit a record for the month of November.
Maxim Groups Aaron Chew estimates November electric auto sales were 7,600 cars, bring the year-to-date total to 47,500 cars. He expects that total sales for 2012 will amount to 56,000 units, a sneeze for most auto makers.
But, an important sneeze.
Manufacturers like GM (NYSE: GM), Ford (NYSE: F), Nissan (OTCBB: NSANY), and Toyota (NYSE: TM) understand that, while crude prices might be keeping costs to full-up down now, that won't always be the case.
Still, more incentives have to be offered for consumers to switch to the "unusual" technology. Nissan, for instance, offered $199 leases and $5,000 in incentives for its Leaf model, helping it to boost sales. That's quite a deal for an auto that starts at nearly $28,000.
GM is said to have sold 1,519 units in November, Ford sold 1,259 of its new C-MAX vehicle, and the Toyota had 1,766 Prius models leave the lot. Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) was mulled to have delivered 1,150 Model S units for the month.
