The good: Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is going to start selling its Windows Phone 8-based Lumia 920 and 822 devices in the U.S. within a week. Retailers like Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) and Wal-mart (NYSE: WMT) are also promoting the devices on their respective Wireless Devices web pages.
The weird: No Lumia device is capable of unseating several hardly-known mobile devices from the retailers' "Hot Selling Devices" lists.
According to BGR, Nokia's Lumia doesn't appear to rank high on either list when accounting for preorders. For Best Buy, the Lumia comes in at 45 on its bestseller list and isn't even in the top 20 at Wal-mart.
It might be the way the two companies account for sales, though preorders for the Lumia must surely be outpacing devices like LG's Extravert and Expression as well as the Sony Xperia. BGR also notes Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) Germany, which sold out of Lumia 920 devices in less than a day.
AT&T (NYSE: T) began selling the Lumia 820/920 last Tuesday, with prices starting at $100 with new two-year contract. That compares with HTC's 8X device starting at $199.99. Investors will have to wait just a little while longer until the Lumia sales picture shapes up.
Nokia ended Monday's session up 2.3 percent.
