Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS) and Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) are higher Tuesday following reports of a new distribution collaboration between the two retailers.
According to Reuters, Staples will begin to receive products that customers order from Amazon.com via Amazon Lockers at Staples locations. It's not clear whether this sort of deal would work out better for Staples or Amazon; Amazon could cut down on certain shipping costs while Staples might be able to upsell from increased foot traffic in its bricks-and-mortar locations. In any case, exposure for both companies will be incrementally increased via the effort.
