Monster Beverage (Nasdaq: MNST) shares are at session lows following a report in the NY Times that the FDA has said it received several incident reports tying the popular energy drink to possible deaths.
Like drug reports, the incident filings don't directly link Monster and the health problems.
However, the Times said a mother filed a suit against Monster after her 14-year-old daughter passed away due to "a heart arrhythmia after drinking large cans of Monster Energy on two consecutive days." She alleges that Monster failed to warn about the risks of its energy drinks.
No comment has been issued by Monster with respect to the FDA filings. Shares are down 4.6 percent on the session.
