Regeneron (REGN) Could Benefit as Avastin Suffers as Result of Meningitis Outbreak

Baird maintained an Outperform rating on Regeneron Pharma (NASDAQ: REGN) with a price target of $175.00.

Analyst said they remain Regeneron buyers following recent reports of a fungal meningitis outbreak associated with products from a Massachusetts compounding center, including Avastin.

"While similar reports have occurred in the past, we do believe this latest outbreak puts the potential dangers of compounding Avastin back in the spotlight, and could provide a near-term boost to Eylea as this story line plays out. Moreover, with recent surveys showing Eylea has already been taking meaningful Avastin share, additional reports like this could further accelerate that trend," said analyst Christopher J. Raymond.
