Visa (NYSE: V) is higher on the session following news earlier that it is working to expand its e-commerce/mobile payments footprint with the addition of new partners.
V.me -- Visa's digital wallet service -- added 1-800-FLOWERS.COM (Nasdaq: FLWS) and PNC (NYSE: PNC) as clients today.
For 1-800-FLOWERS, V.me will be offered as a checkout option on the site.
The deal with PNC is a little richer, with the duo looking to extend V.me to 6.3 million PNC accounts in 2013. According to the release, "In addition to PNC Visa cards, consumers are also able to enroll their other U.S. issued payment cards through the V.me site and make online purchases at participating merchants by simply entering a username and password."
V.me is now being used by Rakuten Buy.com, StudentUniverse.com, MovieTickets.com, BlueNile.com, ShoeBuy.com, ZooStores.com, Cooking.com, 88Hours.com and Scentiments.com, according to Visa. The expanded presence will surely put pressure on companies like eBay's (Nasdaq: EBAY) PayPal, Discover Financial (NYSE: DFS), Google (Nasdaq: GOOG), MasterCard (NYSE: MA), and privately-held Square.
Shares of Visa are up 0.7 percent Monday afternoon.
