Ulta (UTLA), Tractor Supply (TSCO) to Maintain Momentum Through FY12 - Cramer

October 11, 2012 7:33 AM EDT
Jim Cramer is out on a call for two very unrelated retail stocks, adding a little bit of sentiment to the shares today.

On Ulta Salon's (Nasdaq: ULTA), which sells items to make you look good, Cramer likes its comps, which have been up 9.3 percent recently. He notes that Ulta boasts a 2.8 percent market share of total beauty sales while th e company is growing 25 percent per year.

For Tractor Supply (Nasdaq: TSCO), a supplier of things to make your farm look good, Cramer notes how the company is looking to add about 90 stores to the 1,100 it already operates in the U.S.. Tractor supply plans to have about 2,100 locations eventually operational. Comps are decent, notes the stock sage, while it has little overlap with retail giants Home Depot (NYSE: HD) and Lowe's (NYSE: LOW).

Both Ulta and Tractor Supply are rather expensive, at 29 and 23 times earnings respectively, but that's why momo traders like them. Given that, he sees momentum until at least the end of the year and recommends either as a trade and not an investment.

Shares of Ulta and Tractor Supply are indicated higher Thursday.
