BTIG initiates coverage on Rite-Aid (NYSE: RAD) with a Buy. PT $2.25.

"We believe that the retail market in the US for branded and generic drugs has positive long term fundamentals, incremental prospects for steady growth and the ability to withstand the worst effects of economic volatility," the analyst said. "We believe that Rite Aid equity is attractive because it is the name most highly levered to these value-creating factors and stands to benefit the most from any multiple expansion or free cash flow growth."

While Rite-Aid's debt structure is complex, it is "manageable" and gives equity investors the benefit of leverage.
