Stocks Crossing 50-Day SMA 09/28: (FB) (TSLA) (QSII) Above; (NKE) (GMCR) Below

The following is a list of stocks crossing the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) and are either above or below the metric. The 50-day is considered an indicator of a potential near-term trend formation.

Crossing and above:
  • Facebook, Inc. (Nasdaq: FB) - up 6.7 percent. Moving higher after announcing its Facebook Gifts initiative Thursday night.

  • Tesla Motors, Inc. (Nasdaq: TSLA) - up 4.0 percent. Priced a 6.93 million offering at $28.25 each today. As part of the offering, Elon Musk, Tesla's Chief Executive Officer and co-founder, has indicated that he will purchase up to 35,398 shares of common stock at the public offering price for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $1 million.

  • Quality Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSII) - up 4.6 percent. Popping as peer Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX) said it might be exploring a sale. Shares got back above the $20 level today, but were unable to stay there.
Crossing and below:
  • Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE) - down 1.0 percent. Despite a strong quarter, Nike's future orders of 8 percent missed expectations calling for a 10 percent gain.

  • Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc., (Nasda:: GMCR) - down 4.2 percent. Announced its new Keurig Vue V600 brewer today. The device, which brews various sizes and strength of coffees and other drinks, carries an MSRP of $209.99.
