Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (NASDAQ: GMCR) is on watch with Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) announcing a two-for-one K-Cup deal.
"Starting Thursday (9/27) through Sunday (9/30), when you buy any 12-count box of StarbucksĀ® K-CupĀ® packs you will receive a 2nd pack free," Starbucks said on its website.
It's hard to gauge exactly what Starbucks is doing here. However, with the recent release of its Verismo single-cup system investors have to be nervious that Starbucks is clearing its K-Cup store inventory to be replaced with Verismo pods.
Verismo is currently available online but will be available at select high-end specialty retailers and participating Starbucks retail stores in the U.S., Canada, and select international markets starting in early October.
