Mylan (Nasdaq: MYL), Elan (NYSE: ELN), Forest Labs (NYSE: FRX), and others are on watch Friday morning following Germany's Merz getting a positive opinion from the EMA CHMP on its marketing app for Memantine.
Memantine is indicated for the treatment of moderate-to-severe Alzheimer's disease.
Forest currently has NAMENDA while a Mylan unit recently got FDA approval for generic Aricept. Elan, Pfizer (NYSE: PFE), and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) were in collaboration for proposed Alzheimer's treatment bapineuzumab, but the drug failed to meet co-primary endpoints in Phase 3 over the summer.
