SAP AG (SAP) Plans Software Expansion onto Mobile Devices to Drive Continued Growth

SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) is looking solid in early trading Wednesday amid reporting its is planning to expand its offerings across more handheld devices, such as tablets and smartphones.
Yesterday, CEO Jim Hagerman said SAP would unveil a new version of its Sybase Unwired Platform, which will allow developers to custom tailor apps for sale through SAP's online store, as well as a new online development tool codenamed Neo, which would allow for customization of the look and feel of SAP apps and the portable devices.
With devices like Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPad and iPhone, as well as Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android-based smartphones and tablets becoming more commonplace in the business environment, SAP moving to address mobile solutions more wholly will be key for the 40-year-old company to continue growth.
Shares are up 1.7 percent in early trading.
