Siri Co-Founder Cheyer Becomes Latest to Leave Apple (AAPL) as Challenges Mount

"Siri, what's is the latest news on your co-founder, Adam Cheyer, at Apple?"

*beep* "Adam Cheyer is no longer with the Apple company." *beep*

According to late reports Tuesday, Cheyer left Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) a few weeks ago after working in its mobile software group. No word on why Cheyer left was made clear.

Bloomberg notes that Cheyer is the latest in a string of departures since Apple acquired Siri in April 2010. CEO Dag Kittlaus left last year.

Times have been tough for the unit after the much-anticipated feature was included on Apple's iPhone 4S last year, failing to live up to expectations in the process. Earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said there was more that the company can do with Siri.

Whether or not some of those improvements will appear at Apple's special event tomorrow hasn't been at the forefront of discussions among tech bloggers and journalists. One thing is for sure, Adam Cheyer probably won't be in the audience to experience the magic.

Shares of Apple are sightly higher Tuesday night, after ending the session down 0.3 percent.
