Barclays maintains an 'Overweight' on Dollar General (NYSE: DG) price target of $58.00.

Analyst, Meredith Adler, said, "The bearish view on the dollar stores that developed recently was not supported by DG's 2Q12 results. Same-store sales rose 5.5% after adjusting for about a 40 bp shift of sales from 2Q to 1Q due to the unusually warm weather. Although comps decelerated from the recent trend on a one-year basis, the two-year was in line with the past seven quarters."

Adler says the company's results don't indicate a negative inflection point and despite conservative guidance, DG has several initiatives that should help provide sustainable long-term sales growth. As such, she raises Q3 EPS estimate from $0.60 to $0.61, FY13 from $2.85 to $2.88 and FY13 fom $3.40 to $3.43.
