Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is ticking higher after hitting intra-session lows Thursday amid reports CEO Tim Cook and Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) co-founder and CEO Larry Page have been holding discussions over patent issues.
Reuters reports that the duo had phone conversations last week about certain intellectural property issues as well as the ongoing mobile operating system battle. Page and Cook are expected to speak again sometime next week.
Lower-level executives are also keeping the conversation going.
News comes following Apple's patent victory over Samsung late last Friday. In the verdict, Apple was awarded $1.05 billion in damages and is able to submit Samsung devices it would like to see banned from U.S. import. The list will come under review, with a decision expected sometime in September.
In the talks, Page and Cook might simply drop disputes on simple features and functions, through broader-sweeping issues are likely to continue.
Shares of Apple are 1 percent lower on the session Thursday, while Google is now down 0.7 percent.
