NXP Semiconductors NV (Nasdaq: NXPI) is ripping higher Wednesday and investors have one company to thank - Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL).
According to BGR, they have confirmed the new iPhone 5 will have NFC in addition to 4G LTE.
" We can also confirm that NFC hardware is present in the phones as well."
BGR sees the iPhone being released at the end of September or early October.
If true, this means Apple is likely using NXP Semiconductors chips in the new phone, a mega-boon for the company. Getting NFC into the iPhone could make the technology mainstream in no time.
Investors aren't waiting to see if the rumors are true and have bid the stock up 8.9 percent Wednesday.
