Needham & Company maintains a 'Buy' on Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ: GILD).

Analyst, Alan Carr, said, "Gilead is scheduled to report 2Q12 financial results on 7/26/12. We estimate $2.273B (was $2.272B) and $2.198B (was $2.208B) in total revenue and product sales, respectively. Our non-GAAP EPS estimate is $0.94 (unchanged). Gilead management has guided for $8.6-8.8B in 2012 product sales."

"The Quad pill PDUFA date is 8/27/12. We expect approval followed shortly thereafter by commercial launch in the U.S. Gilead plans to end active promotion of Atripla at that point, prioritizing the Quad pill followed by Complera. Launch of an over-the-counter diagnostic product for HIV (OraQuick HIV Test) is likely to favorably impact HIV product sales for Gilead." (Glaxo's (NYSE: GSK) and Pfizer's (NYSE: PFE) combined competitor Viiv reported impressive results, but Carr believes the nucleotide components of the Gilead regimen have an overall favorable long-term profile compared to those of Viiv)
