June 18, 2012 9:51 AM EDT
Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) shares have taken an unexpected turn, now in negative territory on the session. The stock was up early amid reports it might be in cahoots with Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) over a new tablet.

Dow Jones headlines now have a "source" saying rumors of Barnes & Noble and Microsoft co-developing a tablet are "not true at all."

Shares are down about 1 percent Monday.
