Analyst Scott Sutherland at Wedbush believes new products from Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) will likely drive additional mobile data usage and he sees a number of companies benefiting from this.
Sutherland notes "Apple continues to push the envelope in term of communications and multimedia usage." One key example he sites is FaceTime over cellular. "We believe iOS 6 and other enhancements will lead to additional mobile data usage, especially with the iPhone 5, which will likely include LTE, and is waiting in the wings," he notes.
This, he believes, will drive additional need for real-time charging, policy management, and optimization solutions from the likes of Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), Comverse (Nasdaq: CMVT), CSG Systems (Nasdaq: CSGS), AsiaInfo (Nasdaq: ASIA), and Nokia (NYSE: NOK).
In addition, players in the activation, device policy and intelligent network selection space such as Synchronoss (Nasdaq: SNCR) and Smith Micro (Nasdaq: SMSI) could benefit.
