Warren Buffett, Hank Paulson, Lloyd Blankfein and Rahm Emanuel Meet in Chicago

June 12, 2012 9:20 AM EDT
To little fanfare, Warren Buffett, Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK-B), Hank Paulson, the 74th U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and retired CEO of Goldman (NYSE: GS), Lloyd Blankfein, the current CEO and Chairman of Goldman Sachs, and Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of Chicago, gathered for dinner at Penny Pritzker's, heiress to the Hyatt hotel chain, home on the 1800 block of North Orchard in Chicago on the evening of June 11.

The meeting, which was ahead of a Buffett and Emanuel co-hosted small business program sponsored by Goldman, has market watchers buzzing.

Mr. Paulson was of course the Treasury Secretary during the credit crisis; which saw Goldman get the best of the bailed-out AIG (NYSE: AIG), Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns collapse and Mr. Buffett get a sweet payout on his $10 billion Goldman investment.

What could the foursome have discussed behind closed doors? Perhaps a Euro breakup, or record low Treasury yields. But more likely: total world domination.
