Auriga maintains a 'Buy' on SunPower (NASDAQ: SPWR) price target of $9.00.
Analyst, Hari Chandra, said, "Doing cost homework to stay competitive while staying focused on technology SunPower is doing its homework, addressing its cost structure and paying down debt to stay competitive/viable even as it stays ahead on the technology curve to stay innovative. We remain hopeful on the cost progress."
"CVSR power project provides the cushion as cost initiatives gain traction SunPower's execution of the California Valley Solar Ranch (CVSR) power project accounted for ~30% of its non-GAAP revenue in 1Q12, providing a needed cushion against weakness in Europe, and stability while trimming its costs. Efficiency adjusted cost/Wp: SunPower's efficiency adjusted cost/Wp in 1Q12 tracked ~$1.00 vs. $1.08 in 4Q11 and is set to exit 2012 with $0.86/Wp - competitive vs. Chinese manufacturers at the system level."
