Deutsche Bank maintains a 'Hold' on Alcoa (NYSE: AA) price target of $10.00.
Analyst, Jorge Beristain, said, "Alcoa reported adj. dil. EPS of 10c, ahead of Bloomberg consensus of -4c and DBe of -5c, mainly on productivity gains and strong results from Global Rolled Products (GRP) segment."
"Alcoa maintains +7% global aluminum demand, still sees 1.1m tons production cuts in China, but now expects 435k tons deficit in 2012 (vs 600k earlier). However, alumina market conditions deteriorating, with Alcoa now expecting a surplus of 1m tons (from balanced). 2Q12 alumina production should be down 100k tons and aluminum production by 25k tons (both on previously announced curtailments), and ATOI to be negatively impacted by ~$30m (maintenance/power outages/fire impact)."
