Brean Murray Carret weighed in on Vivus (NASDAQ: VVUS) following the three month Qnexa PDUFA date extension.

"We believe it is reasonable for the FDA to take the time to review the REMS," analyst Jonathan Aschoff states. "Furthermore, we view this as highly positive, as there was not an outright rejection, or a requirement to do a preapproval cardiovascular CV trial before addressing the REMS. We believe that the REMS will be enough for the FDA to be comfortable with the CV risk from Qnexa."

The firm maintained their Buy rating and $30 price target on VVUS.
