- Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) high of $634.66. Apple getting a little boost from research firm Jefferies, which boosted its target from $699 to $800 earlier in the session. The analyst cited the addition of iTV estimates into numbers. For more color on the call, click here.
- Corrections Corp. (NYSE: CXW) high of $$30.62. Corrections Corp. moved about 12.5 percent on the session following hedge fund Corvex Management pushing management to consider reforming Corrections Corp. as a REIT.
- Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (Nasdaq: BBBY) high of $72.72. Bed Bath & Beyond up about 9.7 percent to the new mark following strong quarterly numbers issued after the market closed Wednesday. Bed Bath & Beyond reported sales of $2.73 billion and EPS of $1.48, versus vies calling for revs of $2.66 billion and EPS of $1.32. For more color, click here.
- Cinemark Holdings Inc. (NYSE: CNK) high of $23.26. Cinemark grabbing some investor sentiment today following a release that it will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 index, replacing Northeast Utilities (NYSE: NU). The replacement will be made on Monday, April 9, 2012.
- Alvarion Ltd. (Nasdaq: ALVR) low of $0.64. Alvarion issued a first-quarter warning. The Company sees first-quarter sales of $33 million to $33.5 million, below prior guidance. Now sees a non-GAAP loss of 9 cents to 10 cents per share, below prior outlook for a 1 cent to 6 cents loss.
- Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: ANR) low of $14.20. Announced late Wednesday that it will be closing its Upper Big Branch mine, which it got with the acquisition of Massey Energy last year. The mine has need saddled with litigation ever since an incident which took the lives of 29 miners happened in April 2010. Other than that, low expectations for coal demand have many miners in the red Thursday, with no signs of slowing anytime soon.
- First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) low of $20.50. Thursday morning, JPMorgan lowered its price target on First Solar to $20, based on a 0.5 times book value estimate. For more color, click here.
