Ford (F) Sales Rise 5% in March as Fusion Posts Strongest Month Ever

Ford (NYSE: F) shares are up about 0.6 percent Tuesday morning following inline auto sales results for the month of March. The automaker said the monthly period was the strongest March since 2007.
Total company sales were 223,418 vehicles for March, a 5 percent gain over year-ago levels. Retail sales increased 11 percent for the month.
Ken Czubay, VP of US Marketing, Sales and Service said, "Rising gas prices continued to drive strong customer demand for Ford's fuel-efficient vehicles throughout March and the first quarter. Ford is answering the call with what we call the power of choice – a full family of cars, utilities and trucks that offer leading fuel economy in their classes."
Fusion hit an all-time monthly sales record during March; 28,562 units were sold. Focus and Edge sales also saw their strongest March with sales of 28,293 and 14,058 cars, respectively. Sales of the company's F-Series rose 9 percent from the year-ago period to 58,061 units.
First-quarter sales rose 9 percent year over year to 539,247 units.
