Ford's (F) Fields Says March Auto Sales 'Best in Five Years'

Shares of Ford (NYSE: F) are up more than 1 percent Tuesday morning as the company's President of the Americas Mark Fields just spoke on CNBC's Squawk Box. The exec's appearance comes ahead of the release of auto sales figures for the month of March, due out at around 9:30am ET.
Fields said auto sales last month were the "best in five years." He said sales were up about 5 percent during March. According to Bloomberg, analysts were expecting a 5.5 percent increase in Ford sales last month.
GM (NYSE: GM) sales are expected to be up about 19 percent, while auto sales at Chrysler will be up more than 30 percent.
Shares of GM are up 0.4 percent to $26.87 at last check.
