Jefferies commented on Vivus (NASDAQ: VVUS) following the first day of the FDA advisory committee meeting to discuss CV testing standards for obesity drugs.
"We note mixed panel commentary still leaves the issue ambiguous of whether heart rate elevations with VVUS’s Qnexa constitutes a risk signal requiring pre-approval CV outcomes studies," the firm said. "The FDA's decision is difficult to call, but we continue to believe the risk of an approval delay is not being captured in VVUS shares."
The firm maintained their Underperform rating and price target of $12 on VVUS.
