Needham & Company maintains a 'Buy' on Silicon Image (NASDAQ: SIMG) price target of $8.00.

Analyst, Rajvindra S. Gill, said, "We believe Silicon Image has made a strategic move in deciding that 60GHz could become a viable wireless protocol for mobile-to-DTV connectivity. Here we examine its 60GHz Wireless HD technology in the context of several WiFi permutations offered by other semiconductor names. In order for 60GHz to be adopted by handset OEMs, we believe three things would have to happen: 1) power envelope dropping to under 500millowats; 2) cost of the chip declining to under $6, and 3) mobile gaming becoming a compelling enough application to super 60GHz adoption. We believe there is a market for 60GHz and that it could grow over time. This opportunity could be sizable for SIMG, in our view, even with a small penetration in handsets."
