Oppenheimer commented on Monster Worldwide (NYSE: MWW) Monday following recent comments from the CEO that "the Board and the management is also focused on pursuing all other strategic alternatives to increasing shareholder value."

The analyst notes that while they understand frustration with they stock price, and respect management for considering strategic alternatives they "would not conclude that MWW is imminently pursuing a sale of the company."

The most important factor for the company to create shareholder value is improved performance in North America, the firm contends. This metric "sharply" underperformed industry and peers in the fourth quarter and they anticipate further deceleration in the first quarter. The underperformance has occurred as US employment trends are accelerating.

The firm maintained estimates and their 'Perform' rating and expect shares to remain range-bound near term absent an acceleration in growth.
