Deutsche Bank maintains a 'Buy' on American International Group (NYSE: AIG) price target of $29.00.

Deutsche analyst said, "Operating EPS of 82¢: This result came in ahead of our forecast of 62¢ and consensus of 59¢. The beat was achieved through core operations rather than outsized market-to-market gains in AIA or ML3 assets."

"AIG shares are poised for a meaningful gap up on a sizable EPS beat (Shares currently up 3.1%). We also see the initiation of share repurchasing activity--begin immediately following 3Q11 results--as a significant positive catalyst While the repurchase was slight--3mm shares for a mere $70mm--it appears to signal AIG's ability to engage in capital management activities prior to the U.S. Treasury's ownership exit."
