Alleghany Corp. (NYSE: Y) reported Q4 EPS of $4.38, $1.50 better than the analyst estimate of $2.88. Revenue for the quarter came in at $282.01 million, versus $232.93 million reported last year.

EPS compares to $4.17 per common share, in the fourth quarter of 2010.
