Leerink Swann initiates coverage on Edwards Lifesciences (NYSE: EW) with an Outperform. PT $90.00.

Leerink analyst says, "With the launch of its Sapien Transcatheter Heart Valve (THV) - the first transcatheter (delivered without open-heart surgery) valve to reach the US market - we believe EW is entering a multi-year period of significant, above industry growth and profitability expansion. For 2012-2015, we currently project ~11% sales and ~20% EPS CAGRs. Sapien's US uptake should also drive significant gross and operating margin expansion. We believe EW is among the most compelling growth and profitability expansion stories in large-cap MedTech. And we think there could be upside to our projections, depending on the speed of Sapien's and TAVR market uptake. Though challenges remain, over the next few years, we think EW shares should outperform peers as the company drives US Sapien adoption, the worldwide Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) market continues to develop, and EW realizes its significant profitability expansion potential."
