Samsung: We Have No Interest in Acquiring RIM (RIMM)
Shares of Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) are trading rather sharply lower ahead of the bell Wednesday as Samsung has moved to offset a rumor.
According to Reuters, Samsung spokesperson James Chung said the company is not interested in buying RIM. He also said Samsung wasn't approached by RIM in any way about a takeover.
Earlier on Tuesday, an article from BoyGeniusReport (BGR) suggested RIM was pushing for a takeover by Samsung. Shares closed 8 percent Tuesday following the news.
Notably, Streetinsider also dispelled the rumor before the Reuters report.
Shares of RIM are about 5 percent lower early.
