The iPad is a hot item, and the Street might be missing the point.

According to recent data, analysts are expecting Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) to show iPad/iPad 2 sales of 11.73-19.47 million units for the company's first quarter. The average estimate calls for about 13.5 million iPad shipments in the quarter.

However, bloggers across the web are more bullish on prospects, with the average iPad sales expectations of 14.8 million, over 10 percent better than current views.

It should be noted data from Fortune had Wall Street estimates a little thick last quarter, looking for iPad shipments of 11.9 million units. Apple reporting shipments of 11.12 million iPads for the period.

In any case, iPad shipments will rise by about 90 percent in the quarter. And those are numbers you can take to the bank.

Apple shares are up about 0.8 percent at last check.
