Seagate (STX) Shares Rise; Issues Better-than-Expected Q2, Q3 Outlook on Improved Shipments

Seagate Technology PLC (Nasdaq: STX) is trading about 6.4 percent better in the after-hours session Wednesday, following the issuance of preliminary second- and third-quarter sales guidance.

Seagate sees second-quarter 2012 revs of $3.1 billion to $3.2 billion and third-quarter revs of $4.2 billion to $4.5 billion. The Street was looking for Q2 revs of $2.81 billion and Q3 revs of $3.62 billion.

Both outlooks stem from improved shipments.
