Reports Tuesday morning indicate Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) has informed its suppliers of plans to fully release its new Thunderbolt technology as soon as April of 2012.
Intel is working with Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) to quicken the standardization of the Thunderbolt system. Apple is currently the only company which is currently distributing PC's with this technology, reports DigiTimes.
The Thunderbolt technology did not receive much popularity when first launched due to its high cost, but PC vendors should become more attracted to the technology during the second half of 2012 as costs are expected to fall.
Intel shares are up a penny to $24.41 this morning.
