Cantor Fitzgerald initiates coverage on Salix Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: SLXP) with a Buy. PT $56.00.
Cantor analyst says, "Salix offers strong revenue and earnings growth, good cash generation, long asset duration, and solid commercial execution. The company is also an attractive takeout target."
"Xifaxan: We view Xifaxan as a healthy asset with continued double-digit growth until 2020. Importantly, recent FDA guidance imposed a barrier to generic approval. Still, we believe that the risk around Xifaxan in diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) has not diminished. Though the FDA advisory panel voted in favor of Salix’s proposed retreatment study design, we believe that the agency still has multiple concerns regarding approving Xifaxan for IBSD, and we still expect modifications to Salix’s proposed study design, which may set a higher hurdle for the company."
