Affymax (AFFY) Shares Surge as FDA Says Peginesatide Works as Well as Amgen Products

Shares of Affymax (Nasdaq: AFFY) are rallying in pre-market trade Monday morning following news out of the FDA the company's anemia drug peginesatide works as well as Amgen's (Nasdaq: AMGN) epogen, aranesp.

The FDA note comes ahead of a December 7th advisory panel review of the product.

Affymax shares last traded at $6.53, up more than 24 percent from Friday's close.
