Shares of Chemed (NYSE: CHE) have tumbled sharply Wednesday amid a Bloomberg report which suggests a whistleblower has alleged the company defrauded the US government by conspiring with health insurers to only consider patients who were not dying.
The informant was formerly with Vitas Healthcare, the US's largest provider of hospice care. The whistleblower filed suit in the US District Court in Dallas last week.
Chemed shares last traded at $52.07, down about 9.5 percent from Tuesday's closing price.
