EC Opens Investigation on J&J (JNJ) Over Fentanyl Patches (NVS)

According to reports Friday, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) affirmed it is being investigated by the European Commission. The company said it is fully cooperating with authorities.
One spokesperson for Johnson & Johnson said, "We confirm that the European Commission has initiated an investigation against Janssen-Cilag BV (Netherlands) and its parent company Johnson & Johnson...the commission has not made any definitive finding that Janssen-Cilag BV has infringed competition rules."
Johnson & Johnson noted the investigation focuses on contractual arrangements with Novartis' (NYSE: NVS) units Hexal/Sandoz concerning fentanyl patches in the Netherlands in the period from 2005 to 2006.
