Android App Store Visits Great Firewall of China; Phoenix New Media (FENG) Shares Responding

Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) is seeing it's woes in China turn into "whoa's" as it's Android Market and Gmail apps are being blocked by the nation.

Reports Monday suggest the two apps are experiencing intermittent outages which have been ongoing for the last three or four days. paidcontent.org believes not every user in China is experiencing the same thing, and different devices are seeing different problems.

Gmail is still accessible via the Internet, reports say.

Google has experienced some resistance in China following the widespread attack against Gmail users in China over the summer.

No official word has been made in China, and some speculate it might be a service provider error.

While Google shares are modestly outperforming (up 3.6 percent) Monday afternoon, investors in shares of Phoenix New Media (Nasdaq: FENG) are responding very negatively. The stock last traded at $4.30, down 14 percent from Friday's closing price.
