Las Vegas Sands' (LVS) CEO Says Board Could Initiate a Dividend Next Year

Investors are bidding up shares of Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) Wednesday morning following a Bloomberg TV interview with Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson. With less than a half hour left in pre-open trade, Las Vegas Sands shares are up 1.2 percent to $49.16.

The exec said the company's Board is "seriously considering" paying a dividend sometime during 2012. Buybacks were also brought up. Adelson said the company currently generates enough cash from Macau and Singapore to continue expansion plans for the Eurozone and Asia.

Adelson also discussed negotiations with Spanish officials about putting in a casino resort strip there. The exec believes Japan and South Korea will soon follow suit and allow such integrated resorts.

The comments may be boost the broader sector Wednesday morning. Shares of MGM (NYSE: MGM) are up 1.7 percent while Wynn (Nasdaq: WYNN) shares are up 1.5 percent.
