Deutsche Bank initiates coverage on Amyris, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMRS) with a Buy. PT $30.00.

Deutsche analyst says, "Amyris is currently developing renewable chemicals and fuels utilizing an industrial synthetic biology platform. The company will initially target the higher margin chemicals market to scale the process while pursuing the fuels market in the longer-term, largely through their partnership with integrated oil and gas company Total SA (NYSE: TOT). While we note the company has some heavy lifting to do in terms of technology development in increasing yields to their target 27%, we believe the company has the correct platform and financial support to achieve this goal and we are positive about the company’s long-term potential in the chemicals and fuels space. We see multiple catalysts increasing visibility into the company’s long-term business model driving shares, including: increased volumes in 2H11, increasing yields from current lab scale of 20% to 27%; progress on the SMA or Paraíso plant expected to open in driving the company to EBITDA positive results; and visibility on the Total agreement."
