Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 09/09: (AUY) (NGD) (WPRT) High; (YRCW) (HPQ) (BCS) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Yamana Gold, Inc. (NYSE: AUY) high of $17.47. Even though the stock appears to be lower, its more overall U.S. market action than anything else. Gold is up $2.6 to $1860.1 per ounce on the Comex, meaning Yamana and other miners should be in positive territory today. With markets over 2 percent in negative territory, it might not happen today. Yamana saw a bit of mid-morning strength, popping 0.5 percent to the new mark.

  • New Gold, Inc. (NYSE: NGD) high of $14.15. New Gold has also been trading at 52-week highs as gold has seen some good appreciation over the summer on macro uncertainty. Shares rose just 0.7 percent early to touch another one today.

  • Westport Innovations Inc. (Nasdaq: WPRT) high of $28.99. Wesport has risen nearly 30 percent over the last two trading sessions, and rose along with the broader market early to hit another 52-week high. Wesport entered a co-marketing program with Shell on Wednesday, sending shares markedly higher.
52-Week Low:
  • YRC Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq: YRCW) low of $0.49. YRC is getting thwomped Friday, riding lower along with broader markets. The stock is down about 13.4 percent on the session.

  • Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ) low of $22.50. Already reeling from recent company announcements, Hewlett-Packard is seeing more downside pressure today from broader markets. Shares moved 5.7 percent to the new low today.

  • Barclays PLC (NYSE: BCS) low of $9.03. Barclays is as much as 9.7 percent lower today, as investors and traders look to a potential Greek debt default.

  • Deutsche Bank AG (NYSE: DB) low of $31.02. Detusche is also getting hammered as questions arise of what Germany will do to reorganize banks with exposure to Greece.
