The WSJ reporting Tuesday the NFL and PepsiCo (NYSE: PEP) are expected to announce a ten-year extension of a sponsorship deal estimated to be valued at $2.3 billion.
The deal will ensure all teams are using Gatorade-branded coolers on the side lines and PepsiCo brands as the official marketing partner of the NFL.
The NFL is forecasting sponsorship revenue will increase 15 percent to a record high of $9.5 billion this year, roughly $100 million more than previous estimates. The NFL also believes attendance will be up this year even as season ticket sales started off slow due to the lock out.
Earlier this year, the NFL announced it renewed its contract deal with General Motors (NYSE: GM) and signed two new deals with USAA and electronics company Bose Corp.
Other than on-field equipment is used by the players, Gatorade and Motorola (NYSE: MMI) headsets are the only two brands integrated into the NFL games.
