Janney Montgomery Scott initiates coverage on The Children's Place (NASDAQ: PLCE) with a Neutral. PT $45.00.

JMS analyst says, "Our Neutral thesis is primarily based on 1) a potentially weakening macro backdrop, 2) a target consumer at the more price sensitive end of the income spectrum, 3) a highly competitive promotional environment, and 4)near-term margin pressure from rising costs. On the other hand, we believe the following: 1) product is improving and could work to drive the turn to sustainable positive comps; 2) improved timing and freshness of floor sets could result in improved merchandise margins; and 3) new leadership has the potential to drive positive changes. We believe that 2011 is a year of transition, laying the foundation for 2012 with several initiatives."

"We are projecting FY11 EPS of $3.19 (the Street is at $3.21) and FY12 EPS of $3.79 (the Street is at $3.80)."
