Goldman Sachs (GS) Falls on Word CEO Blankfein Hired High-Power Defense Attorney Weingarten

Shares of Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) are under pressure late Monday following reports CEO Lloyd Blankfein hired high-profile Washington defense attorney Reid Weingarten.
Blankfein's hiring of the attorney comes as investigators continue to probe the company related to its role in the financial crisis, according to Reuters which exclusively reported the hiring.
"Why do you bring in someone like that?" the source told Reuters. "It says one thing: that they're taking it seriously."
Blankfein has not been charged in any criminal or civil cases and it was not immediately clear why he hired Weingarten.
Former clients of Weingarten include former WorldCom Inc. CEO Bernard Ebbers and Enron accounting officer Richard Causey.
Shares of Goldman Sachs are down 5 percent into the close on the news.
