Q4 Preview: Analysts See News Corp. (NWSA) Returning to Growth This Quarter

Shares of News Corp. (Nasdaq: NWSA) are underperforming the badly beaten down broader market Wednesday afternoon ahead of the news giant's fourth-quarter results after the close. The stock last traded at $13.95, down more than 4 percent from Tuesday's closing price.
Analysts on Wall Street are currently expecting News Corp. to post quarterly EPS of 30 cents on sales of $8.46 billion. Last quarter, the third quarter of 2011, News Corp. reported earnings of 24 cents on sales of $8.26 billion. During the same quarter last year, News Corp. saw EPS of 33 cents on revenue of $8.11 billion.
Data from Bloomberg shows 16 analyst firms with a Buy or the equivalent on News Corp. seven with a Hold and none suggesting to sell the stock. Analyst price targets are ranging from $17 to $26 on the high end.
News Corp. shares have tumbled nearly 21 percent since the end of June. The stock is down about 4 percent on a year-to-date basis.
