According to reports over the weekend, Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) and DreamWorks Animation (NYSE: DWA) may enter an agreement for exclusive streaming rights to it's films. The move would replace a pay-TV accord with HBO.
Bloomberg said an agreement might be reached as soon as this week.
DreamWorks currently has a contract to deliver movies to HBO, part of Time Warner (NYSE: TWX), through 2014. Sources have said there is a clause which would allow DreamWorks out of the contract two-years early, meaning Netflix could begin streaming DreamWorks content as early as 2013.
DreamWorks has seen hits with its "Shrek" series, as well as films like "Madagascar," "Kung Fu Panda," and "How to Train Your Dragon," among many others.
