This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.
52-Week High:
52-Week High:
- Glu Mobile, Inc. (Nasdaq: GLUU) high of $5.88. Could be seeing a pop today from Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) proposed takeover of PopCap Games, which was announced after the market closed yesterday. The takeover may mean Glu Mobile is next in line, and/or that the attraction to mobile and social gaming is so strong, that venerable game maker EA needed a better way to penetrate the market. Both are good news for Glu.
- Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) high of $303.85. No surprise here. Netflix announced that it is separating its DVD and streaming services, increasing the price 60 percent if you want both. Initial outcry from customers means that they care, and will probably stick with the product. Some estimate a slight increase in churn moving forward, though that will surely be offset by increased revenues.
- Midway Gold (NYSE: MDW) high of $2.60. Midway is trading right along with gold prices, which hit a new high earlier in the session. Further, Midway announced results calculated from data provided by Barrick Gold Exploration Inc. (NYSE: ABX). Highlights include metallic screen assays with gold intercepts of 166 meters of 1.48 grams per tonne gold, including 23 meters of 2.15 gpt gold in SV10-510, and 218 meters of 2.7 gpt gold including 41 meters of 12.3 gpt in SV10-511c.
- Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK) low of $5.63. Reports today have Nokia and Siemens' (NYSE: SI) Nokia Siemens Networks confirming that a review for assessing private equity interest in the company had been completed. Not deal was made following the review. The stock didn't have too far to go, traveling just 3 percent to the new mark.
- Investment Technology Group Inc. (NYSE: ITG) low of $11.22. ITG dropping over 18 percent to the new low today, following the announcement of a cost reduction plan which is expected to hit second-quarter earnings results with a $0.23 - $0.26 charge. Click here for more color.
- Transcept Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: TSPT) low of $4.90. Transcept is much lower today, as it expects to receive a Complete Response Letter from the FDA regarding the resubmitted New Drug Application for Intermezzo on or before July 14, 2011. The FDA issues a Complete Response Letter to indicate that the review cycle for an NDA is complete and that the application is not ready for approval.
